A busy farm, a guesthouse taking bookings, a shop serving local customers — every business has its own way of working, but most rely on technology somewhere along the line. At Divine Online Solutions, we work with businesses across the region, many of which are closely connected to the agricultural and tourism industries that shape the Overberg. On 23 and 24 October, though, we’ll be stepping away from our screens and heading to the Villiersdorp Skou, where agriculture, local enterprise and community life take centre stage.
There’s More to a Skou Than What’s in the Ring
Horse classes, livestock displays and agricultural exhibits are at the heart of the Villiersdorp Skou, but the show also brings together people from across the region. You can watch the competitions, browse the stalls, grab something to eat and enjoy the family activities, all in the same outing. Saturday brings another highlight, with Snotkop on the programme. It’s a chance to see a
different side of the local community, away from the emails, errands and everyday routines that usually fill the week.
The People Behind the Businesses
At Divine, our work ranges from IT support and cybersecurity to websites, hosting, connectivity and digital marketing. But these services aren’t just about computers and online tools; they’re about helping real people run their businesses, reach customers and get on with their work. That’s why meeting people in the community matters. A conversation with a farmer, a tourism operator or a small business owner can tell you far more about their needs than a checklist ever could.
A Weekend Worth Making Time For
If you’re heading to Villiersdorp, there’s plenty to fit into the two days. You might want to catch a particular horse class, spend time at the livestock displays or plan your Saturday around the live music. Families can make time for the children’s activities, while the food stalls offer a good excuse to pause between events. We’re looking forward to experiencing the skou for ourselves and connecting with the people who make the Overberg such a diverse place to live and work.
Next week, we’ll turn our attention to planning your visit, with practical tips for making the most of a full day at the show.
